LEED AP, President, and Mr. Richard Sprague,
Vice President, Wheaton Sprague Building Envelope (WS) is a professional
services company with a staff of designers, consultants, engineers, and LEED
AP’s, with technical focus on building facades, building envelopes, and custom and
standard curtain wall systems.
WS is organized into Building Envelope
Engineering (BEE) and Building Envelope Consulting (BEC) Divisions, providing a
full array of expert services to the building envelope industry in one
enterprise, with experienced professionals and multiple offices.
The Building Envelope Engineering (BEE) Division, provides full service design, consulting and engineering for building envelope / exterior cladding and curtain wall systems including: system design, structural engineering, shop drawings, fabrication / production drawings and related services.
In 2008, in response to increased client demand for expert knowledge of building envelope systems, and our desire to be a complete building envelope specialty company, WS formed a Building Envelope Consulting (BEC) Division. Mr. Mark Coulis, LEED AP, a highly qualified senior design consultant with a distinguished career in the building envelope consulting field, was appointed as Vice President.The BEC Division advises architects, owners, and related clients on all matters related to exterior cladding systems and system design, working independently and directly with clients, peer-reviewing and reviewing documents and submittals for appropriate technical content & constructability, providing code consultation, checking curtain wall and/or exterior cladding systems for air/water integrity, and solving complicated system design problems and providing workable solutions.
As part of the ongoing strategic plan to add branch offices to support our growing service offerings, WS added a Bloomington, Minnesota branch in 2010.
In 2012, Wheaton Building Envelope, PLLC, (WBE) was created for the purposes of offering professional engineering, design and consulting services for North Carolina based clients and for North Carolina projects. WBE PLLC, is a working entity in North Carolina due to statutory rules governing professional engineering services.
WBE, PLLC is led by North Carolina PE, John L. Wheaton, also President of Wheaton & Sprague Engineering, a full service design, engineering and consulting firm headquartered in Stow, OH. Craig Mertz, P.E., stationed in Cary, NC, is the regional contact for North Carolina clients.
WS will continue to grow and provide national and regional clients with pragmatic, value-oriented solutions through branch offices and in both the consulting and engineering divisions, utilizing specialized technical expertise to aid in the design and construction of building envelope systems.
