The University
of West Virginia Parkersburg
was planning for a curtain wall retrofit renovation to an existing building.
Wheaton & Sprague (WS) was hired to provide consultation to architect Jim
Butz Ltd. of Columbus, Ohio regarding the system design of the curtain wall and
development of the curtain wall performance specifications of the type of wall
system to be provided, air and water infiltration requirements, the
requirements of a mock-up test to simulate the movement and performance of the
building, design criteria including wind load, snow load, seismic load, and
anticipated building movements, as well as other pertinent items such as glass
type finish and submittal requirements. WS then worked with Harmon Renovation,
Inc. to provide the curtain wall engineering on the renovation project.
