One Prospect Park
Brooklyn, NY
Glazing Subconsultant:
Enclos Corporation, MN. / MO.
Architect:
Richard Meier and Partners
One Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York is a 15-story luxury condominium designed by Architect Richard Meier and Partners, and owned by Seventeen Developers, LLC, also in Brooklyn. The building is a glass box with unique mullion patterns. It also has unique curtain wall applications in addition to custom glass railings and partitions.
Wheaton & Sprague Engineering (WSE) was hired by Enclos Corporation to provide engineering services for the curtain wall, storefront, glass railings, and metal panel cladding.
WSE provided a system designer, senior engineer, and staff principal to support the design process for this partnership. Initially, WSE provided evaluative structural engineering studies in order to provide the best choice scenarios for the system. Then, while working in partnership with Enclos, designed a unitized, thermally broken curtain wall system, developed profile drawings, a mock up, and then provided shop drawings and engineering for the building. WSE was involved with the design team and systems work from the start of the
project through final field layout and field fix applications. Presently, the curtain wall is near total completion for the project.
The WSE and Enclos team successfully managed the job, working with the architect, engineer curtain wall fabricator, and owner to satisfy the performance criteria and maintain the aesthetics within the architects parameters while meeting the owners budget.
