The building envelope engineering and consulting firm of Wheaton Sprague (WS), Inc. announces that  Joel D. Ray, P.E. has received his S.E. license for the state of Illinois

Wheaton Sprague will now have the ability to provide services on projects that require an S.E. stamp in the state of Illinois. According to John Wheaton, P.E., LEED AP and President of Wheaton Sprague: "One of our goals of the last year was to have an Illinois S.E. on our staff, as it provides additional value to our clients. It is our desire to continue to pursue other S.E. licenses in required states. We are proud of Joel and his efforts in becoming an expert in our industry, and providing an added benefit to our clients in working with our firm."

Illinois issues separate licenses for professional engineer and structural engineer pursuant to the respective Acts governing the regulation of each in the State of Illinois. A separate application, supporting documents, and fee are required for each profession, as well as the passage of separate and distinct examinations, before licensure may be granted. An individual licensed as a professional engineer is not permitted to practice structural engineering in the State of Illinois unless licensed as a structural engineer.   States such as California, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada, among others, require this additional license or authority for Structural Engineering, obtained after the engineer has obtained a Civil Engineering license and practiced an additional amount of time with the Civil Engineering license.

Joel Ray is our Senior Engineer and Project Manager for our Bloomington Branch Office. He is a creative professional engineer with nine years in the building envelope / curtain wall industry and offers us significant blast analysis and engineering experience as well. He performs structural engineering services, including blast services, for curtain wall, panel systems, stone systems, as well as other facade types and architectural components of the building envelope. He comes to Wheaton Sprague with an excellent track record of client care. Joel will provide an S.E. stamp for work originated either in Minnesota or in our Ohio office.
