WHEATON SPRAGUE PRESIDENT NOW LEED AP

John L. Wheaton, P.E., President of Wheaton Sprague Engineering, has obtained LEED Certification and is now a LEED Accredited Professional,

LEED is The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System,™  which encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. More than 75,000 people have earned the credential since the Professional Accreditation program was launched in 2001.

Wheaton represents the second LEED AP in the firm, and two other firm members are slated to take the exam in June of 2009. According to Wheaton, “obtaining the LEED AP has become about providing additional value to our customers, to help them meet the growing need for sustainable green building practices. Providing LEED review, as well as thermal analysis will allow our firm to be positioned in the best way possible to help our clients meet the growing need for safety and sustainability for the buildings for which they are a part.”
