Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Wheaton Sprague (WS) is part of a group of companies who are helping to facilitate the creation of more jobs for Ohioans with the expansion of the Grange Insurance Company in Columbus.
In 2005, Grange Mutual Casualty Group, based in Columbus, Ohio, announced a major expansion plan including remodeling and expansion of their current headquarters, resulting in the creation of more than 800 jobs over a 20-year period. Grange will expand its downtown Columbus Campus with the acquisition of the Brewer’s Yard properties at 585 and 605 South Front Street.
The new Grange Insurance building adds 240,000 square feet to the existing structure, plus a 1,000-space parking garage. The building is designed by architects NBBJ out of Columbus, Ohio.
Huron Valley Glass out of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Wheaton Sprague Engineering out of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio will be helping to facilitate jobs for Ohioan’s by working to fulfill the architect’s expression of the owner’s desired building. The owner’s desire is to help sustain and create jobs, and the new building will support the owner’s business strategy. HVG will be installing the curtain wall system, which is the exterior glass cladding of the building and the primary architectural component that identifies the building.
Wheaton Sprague will work in partnership with Huron Valley Glass to develop the unitized curtain wall system for the project. WS will provide the system design, engineering, shop drawings, and coordination for the curtain wall system for the Grange building. WS’s approach to the project will start with design development and profile drawings, progress to the design and engineering of mock-up drawings, then proceeds to detailed shop drawings and structural engineering for the building.The accuracy of the shop drawing work, and proper approach to the engineering is critical to the success of the installation and the application of the wall system on the structure.
