Wheaton Sprague, (WS) was hired by the Miller-Clapperton Partnership to provide complete structural engineering calculations, and related structural coordination and design for the exterior panel wall systems for the The Clarendon luxury condominium residences located in Boston, Massachusetts. Miller-Clapperton is one of the leading national fabricators and regional installers of Metal Composite Material
WS provided solutions on the wide range of windloads for the stiffeners and connections. The building also featured unique panel fi ns at the penthouse. WS designed custom light gauge steel supports and their connections for the 18 inch deep by 26 foot tall architectural fin detail that defines the tower perimeter.

The Clarendon is a 32 story building located at the corner of Clarendon and Stuart Streets, designed by renowned Robert A.M. Stern Architects. It features an exquisite exterior that combines
warm brick, with modern glass with steel accents. It is considered an icon of distinguished elegance
in the city. The building was not only designed for beauty, but designed to receive an anticipated LEED Silver
Certification, the benchmark for high performance green building construction. The LEED certification will be given for increased standards of energy efficiency, use of sustainable building materials, water conservation and indoor environmental quality.

Hailed by many as the best project to be newly built in Boston, its location is in the Back Bay, near the best of Boston’s shopping, dining and cultural attractions.
